For seventeen years, I lived on the road.

Not occasionally. Not casually. Day after day. Night after night. Highways before sunrise. Back roads long after midnight. I’ve driven through fog thick enough to swallow headlights. I’ve driven through snowstorms and summer heatwaves. I’ve watched this country mile by mile.

And I’ve seen something I could never get used to.

Animals stepping into the road with no warning.
Deer frozen in headlights.
Coyotes darting across at the worst possible second.
Truck drivers slamming brakes that can’t stop forty tons in time.

I’ve felt that sick drop in the stomach when you know what’s about to happen… and there’s nothing you can do.

People think these collisions are rare. They’re not. They’re constant. And most of them never make the news. Just another damaged vehicle. Another insurance claim. Another animal left on the shoulder.

But when you’re the one behind the wheel, it doesn’t feel like a statistic.

It stays with you.

After years of witnessing it — too many times — something in me changed. I stopped asking, “Why does this keep happening?” and started asking, “Why haven’t we solved this yet?”

We have technology that can stream video across the world instantly.
We have vehicles that can park themselves.
We have satellites orbiting the earth.

Yet on dark rural highways, drivers and wildlife are still left to chance.

That didn’t sit right with me.

I made a quiet promise to myself somewhere along those miles:
If there was a way to prevent these collisions — not respond to them, not clean up after them — but actually prevent them… I would pursue it.

That promise became an idea.
That idea became research.
That research became designs.
And those designs became what is now the Roadway Lifeguardian™ System.

This isn’t a theory born in a lab.

It was born in the driver’s seat of an 18-wheeler.
Born in long stretches of highway where seconds matter.
Born from seeing both human and animal lives lost when it didn’t have to be that way.
